From the CEO's

The American Red Cross runs on the valuable service of its more than 600,000 volunteers and continues to look for ways to attract new volunteers to help people in need of emergency services.”

“The greatest resource the business community can contribute to disaster relief is its employees’ time and dedication. Volunteers trained through RWTC truly exemplify the people power that is the foundation of any disaster response. The
RWTC program is a great example of the business community’s leadership in disaster preparedness and a hallmark of Grainger’s partnership with the American Red Cross.”

Ready When The Time Comes

Ready When the Time Comes (RWTC) is an American Red Cross workplace volunteer program that utilizes the valuable human resources of local businesses across America. The Red Cross trains employees from partnering
corporations and mobilizes them as a community-based volunteer force when disaster strikes. The Ready When the Time Comes program was developed in 2001 as a partnership between the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago and Grainger, the national founding sponsor of the Program. Today, more than 11,000 volunteers from 450 corporations and organizations are trained and “ready when the time comes” to volunteer.

Ready When the Time Comes is a program that turns compassion into action by training employees of businesses nationwide to volunteer when disasters strike close to home. The time to strengthen local partnerships is now, in advance of the next disaster. The relationships built today strengthen local businesses and create a very powerful network of preparedness in our communities.
