Babysitter's Training (Part A)

Purpose: To provide those youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, lean how to create a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, help children learn to behave, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid.
Prerequisites: None. Recommended age 11-15 years
Length: 6 hours, 30 minutes
 
CPR-Child and Infant (Part B)

Purpose: To train babysitters to overcome any reluctance to act in a emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in children and infants at the lay responder level.
Prerequisites: None, if added on to Babysitter's Training course. 
Length: 2 hours

Babysitter's Training Instructor

Purpose: To train instructor candidates to teach the basic level Babysitter's Training course. This course prepares instructor candidates to use program materials, conduct training sessions, and evaluate the progress of course participants.
Prerequisites:
Be at least 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the instructor course.
Possess a Fundamentals of Instructor Training Certificate issued within the last year or possess a current national Health and Safety Services Instructor Authorization Certificate.
              Successfully complete the instructor precourse self-study and the precourse session. This includes                  demonstrating  competency  in the precourse skills.

Length: 9 hours, 30 minutes
 
Refunds and Cancellations

            American Red Cross reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration or inclement weather. Scheduled participants will be notified of cancellation via telephone two business days prior to the date of the class and may then ask to be rescheduled or receive a complete refund.

Classes for groups

                Groups of 10 or more can be trained at your work site, school, community organization or other location.
